Joining fee
The annual membership for the Gainsborough and District u3a is £15 for the year 2025. It has been £15 since the AGM in 2018.
What you get for your money?
The membership fee entitles a member both to attend our monthly meetings and to attend any of our groups. Some of our members only come to the Thursday meetings, whilst others may just want to play bridge or be part of a walking group and attend nothing else. No one minds! The national u3a headquarters also provides eighty online interest groups, courses, festivals and summer schools.
Monthly meeting
There is a charge of £2 for the monthly meetings for which you receive a drink and biscuits and then a talk from a visiting speaker. We have been entertained by all kinds of speakers on a wide variety of topics: music, wildlife photography, life as a Yeoman Warder, Mercy Ships to name but a few.

Group meetings
Each group makes its own charge to cover expenses. For instance, the Kurling group charges £2 per week for 2 hours play and interval refreshments. The interval chat being a very important part of the session.
The Visits group charges simply to cover the cost of transport and entry fees. Often group members share transport and a nominal, agreed contribution is given to the driver.
Free trials
If you just want to try us out, come to a Thursday meeting and listen to the speaker for free and see which groups interest you. If you then want to join us, just fill in the Joining Form which you can ask for before you leave. Bring it filled in to the next meeting along with the joining fee and you will be a full member.
If you are just interested in one of the groups, please use the Contact page to leave a message. You will then be contacted and given information about the Group Leader who will contact you. There will be the chance to attend the group for one session, at no cost, before committing yourself to membership.
When you join, you will be asked whether you wish to receive the national u3a (known as the Third Age Trust) magazine which is called Third Age Matters. If not, inform a committee member or use the Contact page to leave a message
