This group is for everyone, no matter how tuneful ( or otherwise) you are!
We are a small group, at present between 10 and 16 members).We are now meeting in The Little Retreat. at Lea. This is a lovely venue and, even more important, has good acoustic sound.
Time: 10am as before. Cost: still £3 per session including a drink.
Celebrating our 3rd year as we take a well earned break, half way through the morning.
We usually have tea or coffee but decided that this landmark needed something else!
The group is now in its third year; what we lack in voice we make up in enthusiasm. We just enjoy singing: not doing anything clever like solos or descants as we like "safety in numbers".
We are happiest singing popular/ well known songs. After a short warm-up, we choose what we would like to sing during the session. We now have plenty of song sheets from modern to musical hall, from comic to serious.
We also sing rounds and quodlibets even if, with the latter, we often end up laughing, when we lose our place during the process! The feeling of satisfaction when we all get it correct is absolutely great.
We all love to sing despite the fact we may not be very tuneful!
Together we choose what we would like to sing and then "give it a go". We often have a quick discussion afterwards to consider how we could improve (or to tell ourselves that it really was ok).
Do join us if you are at all interested. You would be so welcome. There are usually 10 or more of us, so we can make quite a bit of noise and no one needs worry about how their voice sounds.
We led our u3a group in singing a few Christmas song and carols at the Christmas Party, We enjoyed ourselves. We assume the group also enjoyed it as they joined in lustily and some u3a members expressed an interest in joining us.
